Love always, XV

There’s a sense of nostalgia when it comes to getting a handwritten note or letter. I can even remember how back in grade school kids would always be passing back and forth some rendition of intricate origami-styled notes. Needless to say, it’s a dying art form

I think the notion of someone having to take the time to write a personal note is just fantastic. No matter the subject, whether if it was a simple ‘Hello’ or ‘Thank you’, I believe that it’s an act of kindness that makes someone’s day. That feeling of anticipation and curiosity that overcomes you when you say, “Ooh, a letter!”.

I think that I fell into a bit of a habit of trying to find unique notecards to send. I will admit, the best is rummaging through heaps of card packs from Target to Home Goods (and of course, it’s affiliated sister stores). It was always a fun way for me to think who was gonna get which card. Being me, you can’t just willy nilly give someone a random card. No, I would personally choose a card that fits the persona of the recipient. Too much? Think about it, if you’re going to take the time to write a letter, you definitely have to find that right card for the right person.

Anyways, in the end run after sending out so many cards through the years, I got a bit creative. At this time, I’d like to apologize in advance to all those who happened to experienced this phase of my letter writing. I’m sure every person who has received a card from me loved and hated when a card contained—dare I say—confetti or glitter. If you think about it in today’s time, the confetti bursting animation via text message cannot compare to this! So I’m my defense, overall, I hope it made their day. Most of the time I would even write a little apology because obviously I forced them to vacuum post opening.

So what’s the point in all this? Why does this matter? In closing of my letters, a good majority of them would end in a ‘Love always,’ but depicted as a written heart followed by ‘always’ and a comma before I would sign my name. This has always been something I have kept as a constant when sending out notes. Just a closing goodbye that reflects me. Now, did they even notice? Doesn’t matter. In essence, this simple phrase expresses not only a goodbye, but also a statement that is needed in our lives of today with all the crazy we endure in this universe.

Explore and open your mind. Take in some serenity and begin to feel connected. Bring about nostalgic moments that enable you to dig deep and embrace it fully. Just know that at certain times, we just need to ‘love always’.
