XV XPLORE

Although I may not be super outdoorsy, I do enjoy an adventurous moment. While camping or hiking may not be my thing, it’s definitely for some. However, that feeling of a needed refresh or even the slightest breather to everyday routine is shrouded in the wonder and awe of something so captivating. This carpe diem go forwardness is the jumpstart you may need to get inspired.

One of the top road trip vacations I’ve taken with my friend that will always be almost a back to basics mind reset has to be back in 2016 to Bar Harbor, Maine. Although this place may be quite the tourist hot spot, I think everything all aligned perfectly in order to experience some of the highlighted moments that nature has to offer in a cathartic environment. Seeing the changing skies, the mountains and rocks, and the water had an impact on my views of how nature is something to be amazed by.

The XV XPLORE Motif is making its introductory milestone with this series launch. I wanted to play with shapes and elements of the XV Signature graphic design that would translate easily to the idea of travel and adventure. In addition to also integrating the brand's signature colors. The base of the motif starts with two V’s interlocking and X’s centered. A cascading element is brought in to bring depth to resemble a tunnel. One could take this as seeing the light at the end of the tunnel to finally reach an outcome. Or maybe you see it as the lengths you go through to get from point A to B. Whatever your affiliation, it is meant to spark a connection in your life.

Little backstory, in the beginning of 2019 I started getting to know myself more in a new light. Amongst all that I had experienced that year, I was able to connect with certain concepts that lead to inspire my current mental state of mind. One of the tattoos I had done that year was a rune symbol that came to me at various times. This rune, Ehwaz, (signified by the letter M) represents the notions of travel and movement. Although literally translated, Ehwaz means horse and trust. There’s a poetic balance if you think about it with these two meanings. Rather than a driving force, it focuses on an adaptability and connection that lead to suggestion or persuasion. 

Okay, so back on track. With this knowledge, integrating the Ehwaz rune could not have been more fitting with the MMXX+ mantra set for this year. By taking the M and positioning it similar to a compass, there shows a plethora of directions inspired by the cardinal directions. 

By continuing with a more focused and capsulated theme, the products have also been chosen in mind to the essentials needed for travel (in some cases—guilty—my essentials to travel) or exploration.

Whether it’s a road trip, a scenic detour or travels abroad, I’m sure we can all relate to all the feels leading up to that moment of clarity when it finally hits you. Take a moment to explore our XV XPLORE Series and indulge in making these moments come to life.
